Above all, the magical place of Roussillon displays a painter’s palette where the combinations of oxides lend to its ochre an infinity of variety of colours which are reflected in the landscape and the facades of its houses. The classified “most beautiful village of France” of Gordes was built out of the stone of the rock on which it sits. Senanque’s abbey, founded in 1148, is an amazing testimonial of primitive Cistercian architecture. |

Lourmarin, gateway to la Combe, is located at the foothills of Lubéron. This village, which is a wealth of culture and history, and where the mixture of Provence’s strong scents is predominant, remains quiet and peaceful within its green haven. The old village of Lauris, which is perched on a cliff, offers the passer-by the golden vision of its old stones. Its figurehead like, XVIIIth century castle sits at the drop of the rock. The six villages of Bonnieux, Silvergues, Buoux, Lacoste, Ménerbes and Oppède, such as almond flowers, are nested on the northern flank of Lubéron. |
